Activating the Student's Role in the Learning Process: Building Bridges of Creativity and Participation
The teacher and the student are two fundamental elements in the learning process. To successfully activate the student's role in this process, the teacher must act as a catalyst and a guide. Here is the teacher's role in activating the student's role:
-
Providing enough time: The teacher should give the student sufficient time to think and respond. Quick answers should not be relied upon as a criterion for excellence.
-
Diversity of methods: The teacher must use various teaching methods that suit the different abilities and learning styles of the students. He should also employ diverse methods to measure student achievement, moving away from complete reliance on grades.
-
Differentiating students: The teacher should be able to identify the needs of each student and guide him in directions that suit his inclinations and abilities. Students must be motivated to develop themselves even in subjects for which they feel no affinity.
-
Interaction and dialogue: The teacher must interact with students through dialogue, discussion, and searching for solutions to their problems. Students should be dealt with in a spirit of dialogue without resorting to emotional outbursts.
-
Consideration of psychological state: The teacher must be sensitive to the psychological state of the students and treat them with kindness and understanding, taking into account the circumstances they may be experiencing at home or at school.
-
Student participation: The student must be a contributing partner in the educational process in the classroom. His role should be activated, and he must not be marginalized or ignored.
-
Stimulating imagination: The teacher should encourage the student's imagination and stimulate him to think and be creative.
-
Accepting mistakes: The teacher should encourage students to try and to accept mistakes positively, without blame or reprimand.
-
Exploiting student talents: The teacher must exploit students' talents and encourage them to develop them, whether in computers, drawing, writing, scientific research, or any other field.
-
Involving students in the search for information: Students should be encouraged to search for information themselves using the Internet and educational applications.
Activating the student's role in the learning process contributes to building a dynamic and sustainable learning community and enhances the possibility of achieving effective learning and creativity.
